Hard to believe that winter is only a few weeks away. Many of you have already had snow and very cold weather. A few years ago I made a "Wonderful Winter Literacy Activities" packet. I have wanted to revise and update it for a long time and finally finished it about a week ago. I can't believe how awful some of the old clip art was! If you purchased the original packet you can go to your purchase page and download this revised one. You can check out this revised packet by clicking on the image below. Just download the preview file to see sample pages of all the literacy activities in this packet.
I love teaching literacy skills through themes. Students get to spend more time with the theme related vocabulary which helps build fluency, reading, and writing skills. To give you a head start on your winter literacy activities I have a few freebies for you. The first freebie is a Winter Word Sort.
Students will sort winter words into 3 categories: Proper Nouns, Common Nouns, and Compound Nouns. If you would like this free packet just click on the image below.
This is a fun literacy activity that can be done in pairs which students love.
Students will make 3,4, 5, or more letter words from the words, "Winter Wonderland" and then write 3 sentences from at least 3 of the words they made. If you would like this free packet just click on the image below.
Thanks for all you do to make a difference for your students.
