Cinco de Mayo: Free Resources, Free Activities, Craft Ideas, and Lessons

Hard to believe it's almost May, so let's celebrate with some great free Cinco de Mayo resources and activities. As I researched the holiday, I learned so much about the holiday's history. Do you know where Puebla, Mexico is? Do you know about the Battle of Puebla? Most people think that Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexico's Independence but it's not. After learning so much about it I decided to create a new product, "Cinco de Mayo: History and Traditions."  It is designed to teach students about the history of Cinco de Mayo and the traditions of how Mexicans celebrate it through reading and writing activities.
Here is a sample of the reading activities.
There are also Map Activities like the ones below:
There are also several writing activities and writing prompts. Just click on the any of the pictures above to download the Preview file to see sample pages of all the reading and writing activities in this packet.

I've put together some great websites for you to check out for all grade levels.
